Legacy Gifts - Supporting Girl Scouts Now and in the Future

Memorial Gifts: This is a very special way to pay tribute to a deceased loved one. We will send a card to the family of the honoree informing them of your tribute. Your name and the honoree's will be listed in our quarterly newsletter and our Annual Report.

Planned Giving: Leave a lasting legacy by including Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama in your estate planning. By including our council in your will or charitable trust, you help ensure that positive skill building and character development are available for girls and young women in Southern Alabama for years to come.

Major Gifts: Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama, Inc. also seeks to raise larger gifts to fund endowments and capital projects.

Supporting Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama

Did You Know?

Leadership defines Girl Scouting. Through Girl Scouts, a girl gains confidence and inspiration to become a leader among her peers in the community.
It only costs $10 a year to join Girl Scouts, but it costs the council $216 to provide a girl with programming opportunities to develop leadership and strong values. We rely on your generosity to make up the difference between dues and program costs. Your gift provides:

  • Girl Programs—Girls discover new talents at Summer Day Camps, National Council Conferences, in-school activities and more
  • Financial Assistance— Regardless of ability to pay, girls can attend camp, receive uniforms and badges, experience our programs, and benefit from Girl Scouting
  • Volunteer Training—Through our Leadership Workshops, volunteers have the training, tools and program materials to prepare Girl Scouts for success
  • Camp Maintenance—Your donations support maintenance and improvements to four council properties and service/program centers in Montgomery and Mobile.

Today, Girls face complex challenges, and have incredible opportunities. Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Please, support tomorrow's leaders—commit to a girl today!

Some of the many opportunities to support Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama, Inc. include our Campership Fund (which allows girls who need financial assistance to attend our resident camp); our Family & Community Partnership Plan (contributions from the families of the girls we serve; twenty percent of each donation goes back to troops); and our Corporate Matching Gift Program (matching employee monetary donation or grants for employees who volunteer their time).

It is easy to donate: please use our donation form (for your convenience, you can fill this out online, print it and then mail to us), or contact Tonya Howard, Director of Advancement, for more information at 1-800-239-6636 or thoward@girlscoutssa.org.

Fun Ways
To Support Girl Scouts

Volunteering: please see our Volunteer page for more information.

All Occasion Honor Gifts: This is a fun way to tell someone they are special! Make a tax-deductible donation to Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama in their name and we will send them a card (with artwork by Girl Scouts) and let them know of your thoughtful gift.

Gifts in Kind: Giving doesn't have to mean money or time! Do you or your business have supplies that could be donated? Or a facility that we could use to hold an event or training? Your donation of an in-kind gift could mean a tax donation for you and a very real benefit to local Girl Scouts.

Big Girls Go Camping!
This fundraiser brings women together for two days of fun and relaxation at one of our camps. Yoga, cooking, archery, line dancing, flower arranging, canoeing and more have been part of the activities.
